Search Engine Optimisation

Another problem to be resolved!!!

The latest Joomla build includes an option to have the installation provide “Search Engine Friendly URLs”, ie. more intuitive to both users and search engines than this example: http://www.stalvies.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&id=3&Itemid=54

However, have tried both the native option and an extension, but both provide errors because they produce a URL with subfolders appended to index.php

eg.
http://www.stalvies.net/joomla/index.php/cv

Have not investigated in detail yet, but initial investigations suggest one of two causes:

  1. There is a file called .htaccess that can be amended to change the standard URL
  2. Given that Joomla is in a subfolder on my site rather than at the root, it may be confused in that presumes to be one level higher up than it is.

Again, any suggestions welcome!
