Approach
Contrary to the direction agencies are taking generally, my approach is as a producer rather than a dry, bare bones project manager. The reason for this is twofold:
- I keep a "hands on" knowledge of the industry and technology, as well as the ability to fill in the gaps both in resource and knowledge;
- It ensures that project management is the responsibility of everyone, not only the person delivering the project to the client.
Leadership
When leading teams, I'm consultative. A web team includes mature, motivated professionals with years of experience and specialisation - and hence more than valid input on most aspects of the web development process.
At the centre, the key to success is knowing when and which decisions should be made to pull that input together - achieving ownership from all stakeholders.
